Summary of the Issue
Feature request. When the laptop is powered off, opening the lid starts it
automatically. I understand this is standard Chromebook behavior, but I’d
like a setup option to turn it off, so the power button is the only way to
start the laptop. It would complement “Prevent boot when lid-closed” from
2609.0.
Others have asked for the same:
- [DRALLION360] Unexpected power-on within 10 seconds of S5 shutdown with AC connected (MrChromebox 2609.1) · Issue #1033 · MrChromebox/firmware · GitHub
- Disable Auto-Startup when lid is opened Acer Chromebook 314
- Want to disable "flip to boot" on Lenovo Ideapad
Steps to Reproduce
- Shut down the laptop (e.g.
systemctl poweroff) and close the lid. - Wait until it is fully off.
- Open the lid. The laptop powers on and boots without the power button being pressed.
Expected Behavior
With a setup option such as “Power On When Lid Opens” set to Disabled, the
laptop stays off when the lid is opened and starts only when the power
button is pressed. The option could default to Enabled so current behavior
doesn’t change.
