I have 2 Dell P22T Chromebooks with severely broken screens that I want to put to other uses. Mainly, I want one to be a headless Home Assistant server and the other to be a test system. I have install Linux countless times on all sorts of hardware but a chromebook is new to me. On the ChromeOS, I could dim the screen and it would switch to an external monitor to be useful but now that I flashed the UEFI firmware, I cant figure out what to do next. Almost every video I watch shows a different way or doesnt actually show the post process. What is the easiest way to boot to the USB and is there any way to force to external monitor? Thanks in advance.
just disconnect the internal display and the firmware should default to initializing any external connected display
I had tried that… I get nothing on the external display. I know the port works as it was working on ChromeOS.
this is CANDY?
Yes.
