Summary of the Issue

Hello all, and thank you MrChromebox for your hard work.

I carefully followed the firmware utility script guide to replace Winky’s BIOS with full UEFI.

It won’t boot anything. The screen backlight turns on, usb thumbdrive (windows 10) blinks briefly, but nothing is shown on screen. Not even a blinking cursor or UEFI shell.

I, then, followed the unbricking tutorial, reflashed the bios once again with full UEFI. Took care of doing the VPD transfer, firmware verification and all.

The same behavior is still occurring; blank screen. I can’t even access UEFI shell. Even letting it on for 10 min, with or without the thumbdrive inserted.

Also I have tried the hdmi output but nothing is there showing. It seems the newest version of this rom has issues. Please give me help if you might.

I don’t have a good explanation as to why it wouldn’t work, nothing for Winky has changed since the last release, and no one else is reporting boot failures on Baytrail devices. I tested swanky here.

Since you have a USB flasher, I can give you a test build with flash logging enabled. You flash it, try to boot, power off, read the flash back, extract the log. Might tell us somthing.

does the screen backlight come on? that will tell us something about where it’s failing.

Turn it off and on several times

Sometimes through esc+refresh+power

And sometimes after pressing power for 8 seconds and then opening the lid

This issue persists on my lenovo n21 (ENGUARDE) too

Edit: Forgot to mention it turns on sometimes

If I have an os I just have to turn it on and wait till the os is booted, but can’t mess with uefi until steps given above aren’t followed
