First off, I need to send a huge thanks to the team behind the creation of the UEFI firmware for the various old Chromebooks. It has allowed me to revive and renew dozens and dozens of units for the school where I work.
During my travails, a couple of units did not re-initialize after flashing, despite having the units plugged in and waiting overnight. Just a blank screen after rebooting from a successful flash.
What are my options here?
Since the unit is unresponsive on powerup now, there would be no normal way to re-flash, hence the unit is bricked.
Is there is some secret key sequence that can bring up some sort of ROM based recovery util that can do a reflash…
Or am I going to have to roll my sleeves up, get out the soldering gun, remove the spiflash chip, re-flash it using an external flashing device, then solder it back in?
The bricked models I’m dealing with are the Lenovo N23 (Reks) , Lenovo Thinkpad 11e (don’t remember the nickname), and a Dell 3120 (Candy).
