USB not detected in boot menu, I have throughly looked over the FAQ and the site

System Details

  • Device: FLEEX
  • OS: Trying to install Lubuntu, no os currently
  • Firmware Type: UEFI Full ROM
  • Firmware Version: 2609.2
  • Internal storage type: eMMC

Summary of the Issue

I have spent hours trying to get this USB to be detected and re flashed multiple times, following the guide to make sure the flash is correct, I have tried Rufus and balenaEtcher, The drive was detected last night and I booted from it after about an hour of troubleshooting, I mistakenly pressed install lubuntu instead of install lubuntu ( Safe Graphics Mode) in the Grub, this then froze the device and after waiting 10 minutes to no avail, I turned off the device took out my USB and re flashed it. The USB will not show back up or even light up as if the board isn’t even trying to read it on either USB-a ports. My windows Pc reads the USB fine and the flash shouldn’t be a problem either. I have tried everything I can think of, and everything on the website. I don’t have a microsd card laying around or I would have flashed it already. I did try a hub and it Still didn’t detect it. I know it can be detected though as it did initially last night.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Boot chromebook with Usb inserted or not inserted, Press escape

  2. Insert usb and/or go to boot menu

  3. Usb is not showing up.

Expected Behavior

The Usb should start blinking that it is being read, and it should show up in the boot menu.

Bought an SD card and it worked first try, If anyone else is having same issue just use a sd card.

SD cards are far less reliable in edk2 than USB sticks, your experience is not the norm. Also, your particular USB stick was likely the issue, unless the port itself is damaged somehow
