Trying to run firmware utility in linux, cannot read

I’m trying to restore my Chromebook to chromeos again, so I can give it to my cousin. Is this a bug? Glitch? Am i doing something wrong? Please let me know I want to get this thing reset soon.

is the error message unclear somehow?

I’m seeing a similar message on my Chromebox mentioned here TIDUS not seeing other SATA/NVMe M.2 drives - #6 by s31bz

please let me know how I can make things more clear here. Or do people just not read when there’s too much text?

Naw you don’t need to make it more clear I’m actually just a technologically illiterate child who cannot understand half the words in the error message. I’ll figure tech words out one way or another.

seriously, is it not clear that you should either add a kernel parameter or boot a live USB with Ubuntu 23.04 or newer?

Again, I’m a technology illiterate actual child. The only reason I got this far is through a YouTube tutorial. I have no clue what a kernel even is or how to boot an unbuntu or whatever. I’ll just teach myself what those words mean and hopefully I get somewhere! This is the most technologically advanced thing I’ve ever done, and I’m lost. I know it might seem simple to a tech legend like you, but this is a whole new world for me. Thanks for the resources you’ve created though! I wouldn’t have gotten nearly this far without them. Maybe someday when I grow up I can be as cool as you

what exactly are you trying to do then, and why?

Here’s a guide on burning an Ubuntu 24.04 flash drive: https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview

From what I’ve found, people don’t read, period. :frowning:

could set the font size to 1000px (joke)

Since you don’t like reading here’s a video.

You can also use this dd script.
