Trying to dual boot Linux mint on my Dell Chromebook 3100 2-in-1

I am trying to dual boot Linux mint my Chromebook so it will run faster and maybe use it as a emulation box. But I can’t wrap my head around all the steps and I don’t want to brick this Chromebook like I did my switch. Also I am curious to know if it would be better to just replace the os out right and dual boot chromeflex with it?

  • put device in developer mode
  • run MrChromebox script
  • install RW_LEGACY firmware
  • dual-boot Linux from USB

running ChromeOS Flex is not recommended since audio won’t work, among other things

Every time I try to run the script I have to do a local host login but it keeps saying incorrect login. Do you by chance know of a way to bypass this issue?

follow the instructions exactly. there is no password for the chronos user when directions are followed

after doing some research I realized I am doing things correctly but it still asks for a password. I found a video were a guy has the same exact issue but his solution does not work for me(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1BEcB-QO5M). I am stumped as to why I can’t get around the problem. also it now say my account is locked for the next 4 minutes.

I found this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sewC3syrJ4) video would using crosh shell like this work?

I don’t know why you’d follow someone else’s instructions, then come here for help.

there’s no password on the chronos account, unless you decide to do something the instructions tell you not to. exit developer mode, then start fresh following on the directions on my site

Sorry I was trying out as many ideas as I could find weather reliable or not. despite my stupidity I fixed my issue I just had to do a quick powerwash. Thanks very much for the assistance.
