Trouble entering Recovery Mode

Hello!

I am currently trying to get into my chromebook’s recovery mode (to enable Developper Mode) as ChromeOS is no longer supported on it and would like to use a different OS (a linux distro).

Unfortunately, I have tried the esc + refresh + power multiple times and multiple ways (holding the 3 of them until it boots, holding only the esc + refresh buttons and releasing them at different moments during the boot process, only pressing them once with the power button, etc.). I even tried with the “maximize” equivalent and it doesn’t work.

The write protect screw also doesn’t seem to do much… I have tried both with and without.

I’ve looked in forums and official doc and it always brings me back to the same 3 keys…

Im on a chromebook Acer CB3-131-C5RA.

Thank you!

it has zero effect on your ability to boot recovery mode, the two functions are completely independent from one another

If your device won’t boot into recovery mode, then your only option is external flashing
