Touchpad Driver Wont Work & No RST Drivers Avaliable for my old Peppy

Hi, my Chromebook model is a Acer C720 and the board name is Peppy and the CPU is a Intel Celeron N957U and the version of the ChromeOS before i installed Windows was a 76.0.3809.136. I got it from 2019 so its pretty old. Once I turned my Peppy into a Windows laptop, I went on the drivers list and I installed the C++ Redisturable and the Chrome EC service but once I tried to install the Rapid Storage Technology Driver, I tried every RST but it wouldn’t work and said that my platform isn’t supported so I thought I could just install the touchpad without the RST but it wouldn’t work. Yes I have tried different versions of the touchpad drivers but it will refuse to work. Help?

RST has nothing to do with the touchpad working or not

why wouldnt my touchpad drivers work when i tried to install it? my chromebook is a intel 4th gen btw

the most likely explanation is, given that the touchpad is an i2c device, that you are missing the i2c controller drivers or other system/chipset drivers necessary for the i2c subsystem to work.

But who knows since you’ve provided no info on the state of Device Manager or anything else.

what shall i provide from device manager?

start by checking it for any devices which are missing drivers or in an error state

chromebook elan touchpad: code 10: status_device_power_failure
whole other devices section (pci data acquistion and signal processing controller, pci data acquistion and signal processing controller, sm bus controller, unkown device, unknown device) : code 28: there are no compatible drivers. press update to find a driver

Windows 101 here, use a tool like Snappy Driver Installer origin to install the missing drivers

after 1 hour, i tried everything, but it says that the chromebook elan touchpad requires a driver but its not in driverpacks

the only touchpad driver which exists is coolstar’s

so what do i do?

are all unknown devices in DM now gone? Any other devices with errors?
does the touchpad work under Linux?
can you confirm it’s an Elan touchpad? (can be done under Linux: `sudo dmesg | grep ELAN0000)

1: yeah, after i installed all devices under the name touchpad
2: no… after i installed all devices under the name touchpad
3: i dont have linux…
4: i dont have linux…

you have internet and a USB or SD I assume, so you’re capable of downloading and booting Ubuntu 25.04 (eg)

on it.

after well, the given time of 9 hours, i found out that i just cant install ubuntu. yes, i had a usb stick in fact i had plenty but i just couldnt install ubuntu. my resources are limited here given the fact that the peppy chromebook is a 16gb ssd.

nobody said to install it, just boot the USB in live mode

screw windows 10 on my peppy chromebook. i just installed fydeos. because it would be like to go through hell to get a touchpad working
