Seems impossible to enable CCD on Dell CXi5 by GSCtool -a -o

When following MrChromebox description on CCD enabling on my Dell CXi5 (Alderlake chipset, CR50 (Confirmed it’s not Ti50)) by:

  1. Power on the device to the login screen (booted into Developer Mode).
  2. Open VT-2 terminal: press [CTRL+ALT+F2] (F2 is the right arrow).
  3. Login as root.
  4. Open the CCD: run gsctool -a -o.
  5. You will be prompted to press the PP (physical presence) button several times. On almost all devices, this means to press the power button. Opening the CCD requires you to press the PP button several times over a 2-3 minute period. with the message PP Done!.
  6. When the open CCD process is complete, you will see a message showing PP Done! and the device will reboot in Normal/Verified Boot Mode.

I never get “PP Done!” as stated in the procedure. It simply just reboots out of developer mode after pressing the power button 6-8 or so times. (As requested by gsctool).

Unfortunately CCD is still disabled after the reboot. I have tried this procedure many times but still to no avail.

I’m an electroics tech so know my soldering etc. I have made a SuzyQable but i guess that as long CCD hasn’t succesfully been enabled, i will never see the 3 USB serial interfaces?

Anyone got any advice on why this unit fails the procedure?

You still see the usb device with CCD locked, so something is wrong with your cable.

The cable is NOT recognized (No ttyusb’s present) and when testing CCD if is enabled or not it tells it is NOT enabled.

The attached procedure from MrChromebox is followed 100% and has been tried many times with the computer rebooting without the “PP Done!” message.

The cable has no logic in it, it can’t be “recognized”.

Lets try again:

I can not enable CCD using the procedure i have shown (gsctool -a -o) as the computer reports CCD to still be disabled after gsctool -a -o has been executed. (Without telling PP Done! but beside that, everything looks fine)

I need to disable CCD and until that is possible, SuzyQ is irrelevant.

You went back into dev mode?

Yes. Did the thing in developer mode, then it reboots, then i shut it down and reboot in developer mode before checking.

You are supposed to fully unlock CCD before going back into dev mode.

Why not tell what i need to do more then?

I have not been able to find anything suggesting there is more to do than running " “gsctool -a -o” to enable CCD anywhere i have searched ?

ccd open and ccd reset factory in the gsc console
