Hi, I’m trying to install Pop OS on my Chromebook, and to do this, I need to remove write protection. My model is:
AMD Mendocino
Acer Chromebook Plus 514 (CB514-3H, CB514-3HT) MARKARTH [CR50/Ti50], jumper.
According to the documentation, I need to disconnect the battery and/or bridge the jumper. However, I’m not entirely sure if the jumper I found is correct. It’s very small—much smaller than the jumpers I’ve seen online —and it has a rubber-like coating. I’m hesitant to solder it.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Disconnecting the battery alone didn’t work (checked with
flashrom --wp-status
). - Bridging the jumper with a pencil didn’t work.
- Manually bridging the jumper with a cable didn’t work either.
What can I try next? Is this the correct jumper?
