Removed battery, Chromebook only boots to recovery now

I disconnected the battery of my Chromebook because the model (Lenovo 300e 2nd GEN) calls for it when disabling write protection.

When powering off the AC adapter, the charging indicator flashes red, meaning the battery is gone. However, the power indicator also flashes accordingly, meaning that the chromebook is technically boot looping. Throughout the process nothing is shown on screen.

The only time it visibly boots and is stable is when it boots into recovery mode after an esc+refresh+power.

Hi, I am having the same issue, ever found a fix?

Some chromebooks have a hard time turning on without a battery. Some people have reported success with removing the battery after the chromebook boots, but be very careful if you try that.

I don’t see how this would work, since the battery sense pin is sampled by the CR50 at boot, not continuously. I would strongly recommend against this.

If you have a device that won’t boot without a battery connected, use a SuzyQ cable.

I had a similar issue with this same model, where personally I could not boot mine up with the 45w charger the laptop comes with, it led to this boot loop where the screen would flash for a second and turn off nonstop.

I then used a charger that had a max output of 22.5W and it booted for some reason, not sure if that was a coincidence but I thought I’d mention it as a possible troubleshooting step. It may be worth trying a different charger.
