Random system freeze when using HDMI port

-RW_Legacy Firmware

Hello folks! When I have the chromebook plugged into a second monitor via HDMI I get a random complete system lockup. If I unplug the HDMI and wait ~5 minutes, primary onboard screen flickers a few times, and then systems resumes normally.
I have only ever had this happen with a secondary screen, no other time.

I am brand new to linux, not really sure how to start troubleshooting this. I assume a driver or some process that kicks in that causes the hang?

I’ve never seen this.. I have had linux on this chromebook i have for about a year, lots of distro’s never that though.

I would google the symptoms and see what it says. also try the google ai feature when you search.. follow up with show me how, what are others doing to fix it etc..
