Pujjo Hardware Write Protection

Hello all, I have a, Ideapad Flex 3 CB 12. It is not a 3i. The board name is PUJJO in diagnostics, but PUJJO-DCCV on the boot screen. To my understanding, PUJJO does not have hardware write protection. However, I am unable to run gsctool without my chromebook shutting off, and running

crossystem | grep wpsw

gives me an output of 1, indicating hardware write protection.

Documentation states that only the board name matters, and also states PUJJO only needs a CR50/Ti50 beat with a SuzyQ. I can’t help but feel like that information is not true. Disconnecting the battery did not help, and I could not identify a WP screw. Am I out of luck?

ALL Chromebooks have both hardware and software WP for firmware. Where did you read otherwise?

what does that even mean? You “feel” it’s not true? It’s either true or not.

of course not, because the device doesn’t have the battery sense line tied to WP, and doesn’t have a WP screw. If it did, the documentation would say so.

Not sure how this isn’t clear – you need a SuzyQ cable to disable WP – there are no other known WP disable methods.

Hello,

So, some of the WP methods on your site list both a battery and SuzyQ, some say SuzyQ and a jumper. The screenshot you send back only says SuzyQ, so I thought there was no hardware WP. Thanks for making me feel dumb about it, though. I’ve been trying to follow the best I can on your documentation, I have soldered a SuzyQ and already have a second laptop to send those commands. I am stuck on the hardware WP that is not identified on your screenshot.

I think you are misunderstanding. Screw, jumper, battery, suzyQ are all methods to disable Hardware WP. If you disable it with the suzyq, then you don’t need to disable it any other way.

how can I make it more clear?

CR50 is the HW WP. SuzyQ is how you disable it

I misunderstood, and I am in fact that dumb wrong user…

thank you for the help.

if the documentation isn’t clear, please do help us improve it
