Power on triggers for Acer Chromebook 315 (CB315-2H) (Aleena)

System Details

  • Device: Acer Chromebook 315 (CB315-2H) (Aleena)
  • OS: Linux
  • Firmware Type: Full ROM / UEFI
  • Firmware Version: MrChromebox-2512.2 (01/25/2026)
  • Internal storage type: eMMC

Summary of the Issue

The device powers on by several different triggers besides the power button:

  1. opening the laptop lid
  2. plugging into a power supply
  3. keyboard press

Expected Behavior

There should be power on trigger options in boot configuration menu. (I specifically want to power on ONLY when the power button is pressed.)

that’s not “expected behavior”, that’s a feature request.

This is how Chromebooks are designed to work.

My apologies, I have never used this as a Chromebook and assumed it was configurable.

Are the wake triggers hardware implemented, modifiable by firmware compilation flags, or something that would require deeper modification of coreboot?

both coreboot and EC firmware
