Pixelbook Go replacing full ROM software support

I’m trying to begin installing Linux onto my Pixelbook Go (2019). I’m aware it supports full ROM firmware replacement but in my quest from freedom of google with great hardware I’ve encountered an issue.

I’ve successfully gotten my chromebook into developer mode. When I did that it seemed to wipe the device completely and I had to sign into chromeos to use it again. I go to access the VT2 terminal and paste the command for the firmware utility script and I get the error “Warning: failed to open the file firmware-util.sh: read-only file system”

I’m assuming I didn’t properly disable the WP on the device. I removed the battery to the computer and I do not see a jumper anywhere.
Anyone have any ideas?

firmware WP has nothing to do with a ‘read-only filesystem’ error

not reading the directions and logging in as / running the script as root will produce that error, because you’re trying to download the script to / which is read-only
