Noob questiom about disabling write protect on a HP 14 G7(DRAWMAN)

Hello, I am reading through the instructions on disabling write protect on my Chromebook, and I had a few clarification questions. These are the instructions I am trying to understand:

For devices which use a jumper pair for WP, a connection must be made between the two parts.

  • Power off the device (and disconnect external power)
  • Open up the device
  • Disconnect the internal battery connector
  • Locate the WP jumper
    • If the jumper holes are open, you can sometimes use a paperclip to connect them
    • If the jumper holes are filled, the easiest way to connect them is using a solder bridge
    • In a pinch, you may be able to connect them using a standard graphite pencil
  • Reconnect the internal battery connector
  • Reassemble and boot the device
  1. I can either connect the jumper pairs, OR use a suzyQable, I don’t have to do both right?
  2. At what point do I get rid of the connection? Do I just connect it for a few seconds with the battery off, do I leave the connection in when I plug the battery back in? I don’t have to leave the connection in permanently right?

Thank you, hopefully these aren’t very dumb questions

  1. correct

  2. you can leave it, or remove after flashing the firmware.
