ASUS Chromebox 3 / CN65 with i7 8550U, either 8/16 GB RAM, 256/500/1TB SSD (WD/XPG/KIOXIA) - many configurations tried
BIOS - MrChromebox-2503.0 - 04/27/2025 (but several previous versions also tried)
Problem description is simple: Windows 11 Pro installed and activated, all updates, drivers installed. If an attached USB keyboard or mouse is unplugged the system goes to BSOD with WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and reboots. If the system is booted without any keyboard or mouse attached, it gets to the login screen, waits several seconds, and then the BSOD appears. It can be either a mouse or a keyboard. A single connected USB input device appears to solve the problem but if it is removed at any point, the BSOD appears in a matter of seconds.
Other things I’ve tried were Windows 10 instead of 11, testing without drivers updated/installed, testing with just a small USB 2.0 hub attached. Other operating systems work fine, for example I had Proxmox running on the hardware headless for weeks while testing it out as a potential virtualization host.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. I can obviously leave a mouse connected but it’s a bit of a silly workaround.
Thx,
