Need help with disabling WP

hey, I have an hp Chromebook 15a-nb0. I’m having trouble removing the wp. I already disconnected the battery. After I do flashrom --wp-disable it says the there was some incorrect voltage sent and the SPI config is locked. Any help?

what is the board name of ur Chromebook?

YAVIKS is the board name.

More info, I found out that hardware status registration protection is enabled, I cant find anywhere on how to disable it.

this is what happens when you don’t read and follow directions.

YAVIKS doesn’t support battery disconnect for WP disable.

You do not need to run flashrom --wp-disable EVER

Sorry, may I ask what’s the proper way to disable wp on my board? The guide on the website just says my wp is Cr50 so I’m confused, it’s also my 2nd time doing this.

the only way for u to disable wp is via ccd with a suzyq cable, since your model is newer. mr.chromebox has the directions up on his website, and you can find the board/cable on ebay.

This should work for YAVIKS, right?

https://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/developer-library/guides/device/ro-firmware-unlock/

no, that’s something that needs to be done in addition to disabling WP.

does no one read the docs on my site?

I’m just changing VPD info so maybe it’s different, but I’ve never had to disable WP after gsctool -a -w disable

it is

the -w disable command was only recently added to gsctool / to newer builds of ChromeOS, and it only disables hardware wp until the next reboot.

If you want it disabled permanently, you need to run wp disabled atboot in the cr50 console after opening the CCD
