hello. i have installed the full UEFI ROM on my NOIBAT (HP chromebox G3) w/ permanent jumper installed and the only way i can get it to boot is to use the developer mode button during startup – is this behavior normal?
no, the recovery button doesn’t do anything with the UEFI firmware
Any tips on what I should try to do to get around this?
what exactly happens when you boot without holding in the recovery button?
fans spin up to maybe 50% for ~20-30 seconds and then down, the power button turns off, back on and repeat. It’s currently powered through USBC and blinks red when I plug it in initially. If I hold the power button down for to shut the unit down, the red light goes away at shutdown/idle.
thank you so much the help, firmware and everything else.
are you able to test powering it with a barrel-jack plug vs USB-C?
I hope that I am not intruding in this conversation with my comment.
I recently bought HP Chromebox G3, just for a small server.
I can’t find where jumper suppose to go.
Hopefully @MrChromebox or OP can guide me through picture.
Plus, do jumper needs to be permanent?
there’s a picture on my site
the instructions say you can remove it after flashing. But if you use a solder bridge to connect, no need to remove it.
Thanks a lot, I will try this today and report the progress back.
I searched multiple times on the website but could not find the picture or instruction for this device.
Thanks again. Have a nice time.
searched how? it’s on the supported devices page, there’s a link to the pic. The WP method is listed along with a link on how to disable.
I did not click the jumper link in the supported device list. Skill issue I guess. ![]()
Apologies for necroing this thread but the OP never replied and I am having the same issue.
Everything they said previously matches my case 100% (including thanks for the firmware!)
I am not able to test with a barrel-jack plug currently. Is there anything else I should look for or try? I can provide full logs if needed and I have plenty of tools for testing.
Thank you!
The barrel plug fixed the issue for me
Thank you
Can confirm the same issue: just converted my hp chromebox g3 yesterday, plugging into USB-C bootloops, but works excellent with a barrel jack.
