Most powerful chromebook with native linux support?

Hello folks,

My HP Chromebook C1030 has served me well for the past couple of years, though despite being the i7 16gb version, it is increasingly showing its age.

What is the most powerful chromebook to date with full native linux support?

Thanks

how? it’s a 10th-gen i7-10510U/710U. with 16GB it should not be sluggish at all.

I mean I suppose it is alright. I happen to use quite a bit of VMs and have many tabs open on firefox at all time. So…

Do you know what’s the Linux mainline support status for the ASUS ExpertBook CX54 Chromebook Plus (CX5403)?

I haven’t been able to find anything.

Thanks

there are only two places to look, my site and the chrultabook docs. it should be listed under both

It is indeed in your Supported Devices list.

However, does being supported by your custom firmware mean all the device drivers are fully supported by the Linux kernel?

Thanks

no, my site only lists firmware support. the chrultrabook docs list OS support. Also good to figure out the hardware platform (in this case, Meteorlake) and board name (SCREEBO) and search the forum to see what issues others have reported. And if you can’t find anything, post a new thread asking.

I personally don’t have any MTL ChromeOS hardware to test

Apparently no MeteorLake device seems to be supported according to Device Support Status | Chrultrabook Docs :sad_but_relieved_face: .

Thanks

they need to update their docs then.

@WeirdTreeThing has one I think, and several other users are running Linux on Screebo

Interesting. Would be nice if they could share their thoughts.
