Looking for someone to sell the SuzyQ PCB in Europe (or other regions)

There are a lot of international buyers located in europe who either buy from eBay or contact me to buy it directly from me. Either way, shipping is slow and expensive. It would be really good for them if someone could buy this PCB directly from a manufacturer in bulk and resell it in Europe similar to what I do in the US. Contact me if you would like to do this. @AbstractClassMethod u mentioned u were looking for a seller in UK, do u want to be that seller?

Regions and my current order frequency (estimate):

  • Europe (~1.2 orders per day)
  • Canada (~0.3 orders per day)
  • Australia (~0.1 orders per day (very rough estimate))
  • India (pretty rare)
  • South America (pretty rare)

Here is how the process of selling it would be:

  • Ideally, the person selling in europe or another region
    • Has a CCD-compatible Chomebook that they can test it on to make sure it works
    • Has enough knowledge and time to assist buyers with troubleshooting, questions, and lost and damaged items.
    • Can and has time to respond to people’s emails, since I will be redirecting people who email me to you if their shipping will be cheaper and faster from you
    • Is committed to selling these PCBs as a way of making it convenient for other people in the Chrultrabook community and not to make money off of it.
    • Will be using eco-friendly shipping materials (and if possible carbon-nuetral shipping)
    • Can contact a PCB manufacturer and manage all of their ordering and possible import fees
    • Can manage their inventory so it is available to buy most of the time
  • You contact me. Let me know:
    • your region
    • around how fast and expensive shipping within that region is
    • which platform you will sell on (or just direct orders if you want)
    • how often you will ship orders
    • how eco-friendly your shipping materials will be
    • how much money you will charge customers for your time (up to you)
  • I (or it can be a public discussion) will decide who is best suited to sell it in europe
  • I send the PCB files to that person
  • That seller then manages ordering, selling and shipping in their region through the platform of their choice
  • I let people know that they will have cheaper and faster shipping if they buy it through you and send them your link / contact info
  • People will have cheaper, faster shipping

So it turns out that the current reseller in UK is no longer selling them and is not responding to my messages. So I’m once again looking for someone to sell them in Europe. This time I think there should be separate people in the UK and EU so that there are not any customs fees when shipping across UK and EU.

Also, when I order PCBs from PCBWay and import them in the US, I have to pay tariffs which are 50% of the cost of the PCBs. This makes the potential savings of shipping straight to Europe even higher.

@krab, @boredsquirrel are you still interested in this?

@elly are you interested in this?

  1. Selling stuff (and especially dealing with people) is a PITA.
  2. I don’t have time for this.
  3. US and EU are fundamentally different. You can go to the store and buy parts you need to build one for ~2EUR. Everyone owns a soldering iron (or can borrow one from friends/neighbours) and knows how to solder. That’s why selling simple boards that just expose SBU pins is not only unprofitable, but people will always choose to jump on their bikes/take a bus to nearest electronics store or hackerspace, buy what they need (or even get it for free), solder and use it.

Ok, no problem.

But the idea that everyone in Europe prefers to buy the parts and solder it themselves is simply not true.

people will always choose to jump on their bikes/take a bus to nearest electronics store or hackerspace, buy what they need (or even get it for free), solder and use it.

I’m sure some people, or even a majority of people are doing this, but there are also many people who are choosing to instead buy it from me, with high shipping costs and delivery time.

It probably comes down to the price difference, time difference, how much they enjoy soldering, and how confident they are in their soldering ability and how willing they are to do some trial and error.

I have several IT friends and acquaintances who are looking to buy SuzyQables, and they don’t have the time, or doesn’t want to bother with soldering themselfes. And this is in the EU too.

ChocolateLoverRaj - send me a PM, i would really like to order some cables for the EU.
