Lenovo Gaming Chromebook 16 (TANIKS-AVGY) - nvme upgrade for ChromeOS on stock fw vs UEFI

I have five of these Chromebooks on hand and have gone through the motions with diy SuzyQ cable, the 4.1 cable I got on ebay.

I’ve replaced the eMMC with two different nvmes and installed Ubuntu and Mint successfully with all functionality working.

I had one machine act up on me and show serious graphics glitches when booting into linux. For this reason I wanted to make sure I had a path back to stock (for example, to return it), which I’ve managed a couple of times now on two machines (restored, not returned).

So for my latest trick I restored stock fw and used the cbi set 6 8245 2 trick to enable nvme booting. And it worked, although it was painful. I have learned a bunch about this specific hardware though, which I guess was the point.

I’m a little out of patience today, but I like to know I truly own my gear. What I haven’t done is try our favorite UEFI firmware and ChromeOS. Is that supposed to work? Upsides?

no it does not
