JOXER-ZELG, Ti50, finished PP button, now it loops between screens

HP Chromebook x360, JOXER-ZELG. I disabled the RO Verification, hitting the PP button a bunch, now the screen loops between several screens. One says it’s applying an update that’ll take 1-2 minutes, another says it’s a critical update and to not turn off my device, and the last is the normal ChromeOS start screen. It’s been about twenty minutes of these screens flashing on screen (sometimes lingering for a minute or two). It’s been about 20 minutes and I’m getting worried, mainly because it keeps saying it should only take around 1-2 minutes.

Is it normal to take this long, am I in a endless loop? Did I somehow mess it up, or is it normally like this. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

My main worry is due to this Chromebook belonging to my Co-worker. I’m putting Linux Mint onto the device so that she’ll be able to play steam games on it, and I’d rather not be the guy to brick her laptop. Please help.

Edit: Bout 20 minutes later. Same thing still happening. Don’t know what to do. Do I turn it off and restart? Do I just wait it out? Please, I beg of you, someone help
