Summary of the Issue
I purchased a valid audio driver license and have only ever used it on this single machine. Recently, I replaced/upgraded my internal NVMe SSD. After reinstalling Windows and the audio driver, the device fails to start with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager.
Checking the Device Properties for CoolStar SOF Audio (WDM) shows Code 10 with the following status:
This device cannot start. (Code 1 0)
{License Violation} The system has detected tampering with your registered product type. This is a violation of your software license. Tampering with product type is not permit t ed.
It seems the license check was invalidated by the hardware ID change caused by the SSD swap. I would like to request assistance with resetting/re-binding my license to this machine. I can provide the original purchase email/receipt via PM upon request.
Steps to Reproduce
-
Purchase and successfully activate the CoolStar audio driver license on the Chromebook.
-
Replace the internal NVMe SSD with a new drive.
-
Clean-install Windows and install the CoolStar SOF Audio driver.
-
Check Device Manager: CoolStar SOF Audio (WDM) fails to start with Code 10 (License Violation).
Expected Behavior
The driver should activate and initialize audio playback properly on the same machine, or permit license reactivation after an SSD rep la cement.
