Installed Fedora via RW_LEGACY, ChromeOS failed to boot, now it refuses to enter dev mode

System Details

  • Device: Cret
  • OS: ChromeOS (tried to install Fedora)
  • Firmware Type: RW_LEGACY
  • Firmware Version: Can’t run script, dev mode refuses to turn on
  • Internal storage type: eMMC

Summary of the Issue

NOTE: This machine was unenrolled on 142 via Quicksilver.

When I enter dev mode (esc refresh power, Ctrl d, enter), it gives me the Developer Mode boot menu. I boot from internal disk. It shows the messages about transitioning to dev mode and preparing system for dev mode. Reboots. I select boot from internal disk and the cycle repeats.

I tried everything - recovering, letting it do the cycle 10 times, nothing.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Put Cret device into dev mode, install RW_LEGACY, run CRAP (I resized stateful to 13GB).

  2. Install Fedora, run keyd script & audio script.

  3. Reboot in Fedora, select ChromeOS.

  4. ChromeOS fails to boot and power washes. Mount stateful in fedora and wipe the encryption key to make it reset.

  5. ChromeOS boots for 1 boot, then the power wash cycle rebegins.

  6. Reenter Dev Mode, and the dev mode cycle, as described above, begins.

Expected Behavior

The Dev Mode loop shouldn’t have happened and ChromeOS and Fedora booted fine.
