I need help sorting sound on my Linux Mint on Chromebook (Board Name = AKALI360)

Many thanks to this excellent resource I have managed to get Linux Mint up and running on my Chromebook. However there is something which is bugging me and that is that sound is not working at all. I have done lots of reading on this site and elsewhere and tried a few things however the problem persists.

Board Name = AKALI360
Device Name = Acer Chromebook Spin 13 (CP713-1WN)

Disabled firmware write protection (disconnect battery method)
Flashed MrChromebox’s UEFI Full ROM firmware
Installed Linux Mint 22.1 Xia from an .iso on a USB drive via Ventoy.

I followed the “Fixing Audio” steps here, running WeirdTreeThing’s script

Some more details here in case they help…

$ inxi -SMA

I also ran the chrultrabook debugging script and will upload the output file to this post

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I can provide more info.

Thanks

Can’t seem to find an option to attach the output of the debugging script to this post. Do I need to host the file somewhere and add a link to it?

Linux mint is too old to work

Ah, that’s a shame. I have Mint running on my old MacBook Pro, I’ve got used to it and enjoy using it. Would have been good to have some continuity but I’m definitely not against trying other distros and thankful for your advice. Saves me bashing my head off the problem even more.

So I have this list below of other potential options from another post on this site. Just wonder whether you think any of these would be more hopeful for me to get sound working with Linux on this chromebook?

Arch Linux or EndeavourOS
Fedora or Ultramarine Linux
openSUSE Tumbleweed
Pop!_OS

Alternatively if you could recommend any others that would be great.

Thanks again

Those should be fine.
