HP Falco Chromebook Touchpad Unresponsive On Upgrade, Solutions?

System Details

  • Device: Falco
  • OS: ChromeFlex
  • Firmware Type: UEFI Full ROM

So, for a VERY long time I wanted to take my Chromebook 14 to the modern age to give it life.

Finally did! Looks very nice, used chromebox, and elected for flex to not change the hardware strain and use type factor.

Only one hickup. Touchpad is a no go on being recognized. I even found the driver from coolstar. But only exe’s work on windows, not Flex.

Any tech guru know a way to install/fix the built in touchpad?

External mice work. Even built in cellular (prob sd card slot too) works. Not a deal breaker to keep an extra mouse, just awkward. Thanks for any help, I’m assuming another command menu download or such. I just know nothing in general.

Install a linux distro and give it a try

Use xubuntu or Q4OS, not arch if anyone tells you to

Check your ram, if you have 2Gb, install miniOS rather

Thanks for the suggestion. Have a 4GB ram model. Was hoping to avoid any more robust OS’s, but noted. Chromebook fills what I need, ill see how needing external mouse sits with me for now. Much appreciated regardless.

Install Q4OS KDE then

You’ll love it
