HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook (REDRIX) – CoolStar SOF Audio License Violation After Windows Reset + Patreon Authentication Failed

Hello,

I need assistance restoring the internal speaker audio on my HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook (REDRIX), running Windows 11 Pro with MrChromebox Coreboot firmware version 4.22.4.

I purchased this laptop in 2024 with Windows already installed, and the internal speakers were working perfectly.

Recently, I performed a Windows 11 reset using the “Keep my files” option. After the reset, the internal speakers stopped working.

Current issue:

  • CoolStar SOF Audio (WDM) is listed in Device Manager.

  • The driver reports Code 10 – License Violation.

  • Windows reports “No output devices found.”

  • The laptop hardware and SSD have not been changed.

  • The internal speakers worked before the Windows reset.

I still have the original CoolStar audio installation files from 2024, including:

  • csaudiointcsof.1.0.4-installer.exe

  • GenLicense.exe

  • GenLicenseLib.dll

  • README.txt

However, I cannot locate the original signed license file.

I generated a new unsigned license file using GenLicense and attempted to access the CoolStar licensing portal. Unfortunately, account registration or authentication fails with the message:

“Patreon Auth Failed”

Since the laptop was purchased with working audio, I do not know which account was originally used to activate the driver.

Could you please help me with the following?

  1. Is it possible to recover or reissue the previously activated audio license for the same laptop without purchasing a new license?

  2. Can the existing device license be identified or verified using my newly generated unsigned license file?

  3. Is there an alternative way to contact the licensing administrator, given that Patreon authentication is failing?

I am happy to provide the unsigned license file privately to an authorized developer or support representative if required.

Thank you for your assistance.

The issue you reported is not related to MrChromebox UEFI. It was caused by resetting the Windows system and dropping the external Coolstar driver. If you didn’t install the driver yourself before, you would need to purchase and install the Coolstar driver again.

In fact, there is no need to use the Coolstar sound driver to use the built-in sound. A Type-C to 3.5mm adapter can solve the problem, as most Chromebooks have a fully functional Thunderbolt Type-C.

The device I am currently using is too high-end and advanced, and there is no official Coolstar external sound driver for Windows 11. It can still use Windows 11 lot 24h2 ltsc normally

a USB-C to 3.5mm jack is not built-in sound, it’s external sound.
