Hello Chrultrabook community,
I recently bought an HP Chromebox G2 to put Linux on it. I was able to run through the mrchromebox guide without any issues. I booted into the bios and was able to see the 32GB SSD that came with the device. The issue occurred after I opened the device and replaced the NVMe SSD. Now when I plug in the USB-C PD cable to power it on, it does not boot and instead the LED blinks, 1 time red, 2 Yellow (maybe white?) and then 1 white.
Does anyone have any info on the LED code and what it means?
Things I have tried to fix it, with no luck.
- I tried to re-install the SSD that came with the unit.

- Remove everything plugged in, ssd, wifi, ram, usb, etc.

- Replaced the CMOS battery

- Replaced the RAM with a stick I know is good.

- Removed the motherboard and put it back in.

Thanks!

you can’t cold boot the box with USB-PD unless you’ve disabled the EC-RW jump under Advanced Config in the UEFI settings. It’s a bug in the RO EC firmware which prevents the PD profile from persisting when it jumps to the RW EC firmware at boot. So for now, boot with a BJ adapter.

Ah okay, that explains it then. Is there no other way to boot it now without using the BJ adapter? I don’t have a ac adapter for that unfortunately.

if you’re using a PD connection that is also doing video, try using a separate video connection and a higher power PD charger. but most likely you need a BJ plug.

I tried 3 different PD chargers while using HDMI for the display and the 3rd one worked!
The first 2 were the smaller GAN chargers that maxed out at 3amps, the last PSU I used was a Liteon device I got with another Acer chromebook that maxed out at 3.25amps.
Thank you so much for your help and for the entire MrChromebox project!
