My USB installation media wont recognise the emmc on the chromebook and ive tried different usb sticks, different linux distros and different usb ports and im generally lost for words on how to do it any help would mean a world to me as im stuck on how to do any of it

Yea thanks for saying that but im not sure how to set it to boot partition to read the emmc could you help?

Sounds like you may not be able to use the eMMC at all if your Chromebook 14A is AMD. You may have to do a full Linux install to either 1. SD Card 2. USB. 3. NVMe SSD. I’ve personally installed Debian on a USB before, not just a live session
edit: yes, was wrong. It means EFI and /boot stuff should be mounted on something like a USB instead when installing which is probably as weird as it sounds
