HP Chromebook 11

“Hi, I bricked my HP Chromebook 11a-nb0013dx (SNAPPY board) while trying to flash UEFI firmware.
I need an original 8 MB BIOS dumpfrom an identical working unit.
Can anyone with a working HP 11a-nb0013dx share a full SPI flash backup?
I’m using a CH341A programmer and 1.8V, but I can’t revive it without a clean 8 MB ROM.
Thank you!”

are the unbricking instructions on my site not clear on how to download the UEFI image to flash?

Thanks for the reply. My Chromebook is fully bricked, so I can’t boot ChromeOS or use the unbricking script. I accidentally flashed the UEFI image directly to the SPI chip with a CH341A, so now the device won’t power on at all. That’s why I’m looking for a clean 8MB dump from a working HP 11a‑nb0013dx. The UEFI image on your site is 16MB and can’t be written directly to the chip. I just need the original 8MB ROM to restore the board

the unbricking instructions on my site do not involve running my script or ChromeOS.

Flashing the correct UEFI firmware image to the chip will not brick it (in almost all cases).
Flashing the wrong image almost certainly will.

All SNAPPY boards use a 16MB flash. If your flash is 8MB, it’s not a SNAPPY board.

Thanks for the clarification. The reason I got an 8MB dump is because I was reading the flash without a 1.8V adapter, so the CH341A wasn’t detecting the chip size correctly. The board is SNAPPY, but the voltage issue caused incomplete reads. I’m waiting for the proper 1.8V adapter so I can get a full and accurate dump from the SPI chip.

Easiest just to use a SuzyQ cable/adapter IMO

Thanks. I’ll try with the 1.8V adapter first to get a full 8MB dump. If that doesn’t work, I’ll consider the SuzyQ cable

16MB
