How to download Linux onto a Chromebook

Hi all. I used the MrChromeBox script on an EOL/AUE HP Chromebook 11. It is now wiped clean, I only have access to the UEFI shell. I have a separate, older Windows desktop to download the chosen distro to a USB flash drive to then install to the Chromebook.
However.
How am I supposed to install it permanently onto the Chromebook? Meaning- without needing the USB to boot each time.
I received a comment once about flashing vs a clean install, but the Internet doesn’t seem to understand what I mean or that there’s a difference.
Could someone please clarify this, or if there’s a better way to install?
Thanks in advance.

  • boot your Linux USB
  • run the installer
  • install onto the Chromebook
