How to create a suitable boot splash image

Summary of the Issue

The UEFI settings state the the BMP must fit on the display and be less than 4MiB. The image I am trying to use fits both requirements, but it won’t let me use it.

Steps to Reproduce

I tried a couple of images. Both were converted from SVG to BMP, using imagemagick. The dimensions were set to 40% of the display dimensions and were around 500KB. The image was stored on an external FAT32 USB drive. Happens on both boten and morphius

Expected Behavior

Custom boot splash set, or more descriptive error and help messages if there are more requirements

24-bit Windows BMP format. the edk2 makefile uses:

convert -background None <input file> BMP3:<output file>

I’ve added this to the edk2 boot logo help and pop-up info, so it will be more clear in future releases
