Hi friends i’ve an ASUS Chromebox CN62 unit with ChromeOS Flex is there any possibility to revert this to normal ChromeOS? Or is there any way to convert it to Android? Have tried many times without success.
what do you mean by “normal” ChromeOS? That device is years past EOL, and reverting to stock would leave you with a very out of date OS
install Android x86. Nobody can help with “I tried and it didn’t work” because that tells us nothing actionable
I want to install Android TV in the old computer, but with ( ChromeOS Flex ) can’t boot into developer mode.
there is no such thing as developer mode now that you have flashed the firmware. Just reboot, press ESC for the boot menu, select your Android USB, and boot/install it.
Thanks, i’ll try it again, i did that yesterday but the PC stuck.
stuck how/where?
I did tried again now , and i get a error when i try to boot from usb like that ( Please see picture )
that’s a problem with your install media then, not the device/firmware.
Thanks , i get it to work. You were right.
ChromeOS Flex is discontinued
You can use FydeOS and OpenFyde if you want a ChromiumOS based OS. FydeOS has proprietary parts, OpenFyde is fully open source.
There also is BlissOS which is Android on x86_64 and UEFI
what are you talking about?
Might be false info or a too early assumption
With no Android app support in ChromeOS Flex, it sounds like a pretty useless OS though. I tried ChromeOS, and it is really neat, but without Android apps all you can do is virtualize ALL your apps in a Debian container. So then I would just usr Linux.
then maybe next time post “ChromeOS Flex might be discontinued” and link the article, not state it as fact
Yes.
Anyways, I would recommend FydeOS or OpenFyde for regular Laptops.
this thread is about an EOL Chromebox though
Oh, true. But an EOL Chromebook that runs UEFI, right?
