I’m used to having a caps lock button where the search button is on my Chromebook, and I keep accidentally hitting the search button anytime I need to uppercase a letter. It’s incredibly annoying! Can somebody please help me to discover how to have Windows 10 recognize this keyboard’s search button as a caps lock button? Please, I’m at my wit’s end over here.
I have a Samsung Chromebook 3 (CELES) laptop running Windows 10 OS on it, just for quick reference.
Update: I was able to solve my own problem using a series of thorough Google searches. Basically, I ended up using this program through the Microsoft Store called “SharpKeys” and it was fairly simple to figure out what to do after that. On the appropriate window, I selected the “Left Window” button for the Search button I was referencing in my original post and replaced it with the “Caps Lock” when asked what I wished to replace the Windows key with. I opened this post to give it a try and, lo and behold, it works perfectly! I would have done it through the “Registry Editor” on my laptop to avoid downloading anything more onto this laptop with barely any space on it, but I didn’t know what to plug into it. I just opened the registry once more to see about something else and I noticed that the code I could have used is now present in the following location:
There is a red icon and next to it says (Default). That was there when I first looked into the registry. What’s different this time is the next row, which has a blue icon with the words “Scancode Map” next to it. The Type is REG_BINARY and the Data code is as follows:
