How can I remove write protection from the Acer Chromebook Plus 514? Where do you have the protection screw or the write protection element? I have already disassembled the entire computer and I am not able to remove the protection, “enable” always appears, can someone help me please?
Board name?
You have already tried gsctool, in my case it worked the fourth time (note: it may be that when it tells you “Press PP button now” it refers to the off button and it may return you to normal mode and you have to return to manual dev mode) here are the lines to be able to achieve it (anyway you can find it on the coolstar site)
press control + alt + refresh key (f2)
and type this lines
sudo gsctool -a -o
sudo gsctool -a -I AllowUnverifiedRo:always
sudo gsctool -a -w disable
(optional) you can start the script for the firmware at once
cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh && sudo bash firmware-util.sh
why would you do that, when we have documentation that tells you exactly how to do it?
Sir my device is same acer cb-514 and i have successfully installed windows…first problem was it wasnt fully shut down , then i disable fast startup half problem solved , but now another problem it doesn’t showing correct battery information it always showing 100 percent fully charged and charging symbol on , and after running 1 -2 hour without charger it shut down automatically
Will be fixed in next release.
next time, don’t thread hijack.
Thank you very much, I have already achieved it, thanks for your help.
