How can i make my asus chromebook CN60 boot on power?

I would like to make my asus chromebook CN60 to boot as soon as it gets power (i have it conmected to a smart socket) but I can’t seem to find that option in the coreboot bios. Help pls!

this option does not exist in the current firmware, however it will be an option in the next release

So do i need to update the firmware to get access to the option? (And how do i update btw, im using windows)

yes, that’s how updates work. Boot a Linux USB and update using my script, as per the directions on my site (and here)

I get this error when I tried to run the utility script (im using ubuntu 23.10 here btw)

this is an issue with Ubuntu’s snap-installed curl. Uninstall it and install curl via apt and it will work properly

Idk if its because ubuntu 23.10 stopped recieving supoort or what, but i get these errors (image above)

(I uninstalled it from snap also)

Why are you using a version of ubuntu from 2023?

just live boot the current version of ubuntu, you won’t have issues with it

I was using an older version of Lenox because when I tried to run the script in the newest version this would pop up, ive tried searching how to make the kernel more “permissive” but found no results that suited me.

it literally tells you there in the error msg:

  • disable secure boot
  • add iomem=relaxed to the kernel boot params

also, the docs are explicit that you should not run the script as root – it helps to follow the directions.

Ubuntu 24.10/25.05 do not require anything special permissions wise.

I’ve researched and found thet secure boot is meant to be disabled from the BIOS, and the coreboot bios doenst allow me to do that, is there a command for it?

As for the iomem=relaxed and root permissions, i’ll take that into account thank you!

if your chromebox is running a reasonably recent version of my firmware, then it has a setting for Secure Boot in the firmware setup options screen, under Advanced Configuration.

you shouldn’t need iomem=relaxed if you’re booting a recent version of ubuntu from USB

what firmware are you running on the box now?

I’ve successfully updated the firmware to the latest version, and when I entered the bios I saw the restore AC after power loss option, but when I turned the option on and then turned the Pc off and then back on it doesn’t power on automatically for some reason, I’ve successfully updated it and all but even with the option on the Pc still doesn’t Turn On After I Unplug and plug The Power Cord

do you mean when you removed external power and then reconnected it? because what you wrote doesn’t make sense =D

  • you have to save and reboot for the setting to take effect, per the prompts
  • your CMOS battery might be dead
