Help with the correct Recovery image version

System Details

  • Device: PUJJOTEEN
  • OS: ChromeOS
  • Firmware Type: RW_LEGACY, UEFI Full ROM
  • Firmware Version: I have no idea
  • Internal storage type: N/A

Summary of the Issue

I was having issues with thew internal wifi so I decided to perform a recovery to try to fix it, with the Chrome Recovery Utility. The problem is that the image provided by the utility is not working.

When trying with the USB flash, the Chromebook always says the image is outdated.

I was told that I should try other images versions but I cannot find the correct one, I always end up with an outdated version error or “This is not a valid image” error. I believe I need to download the PUJJOTEEN image but I ignore what exact version could work.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install the Chrome Recover utility as extension in a Chrome browser

  2. download the PUJJOTEEN image provided by them and create the USB flash

  3. Run it on the Chromebook, its a Lenovo 14e Chromebook Gen 3 (Intel)

Expected Behavior

To success the recovering of the OS, Now i am stuck in the Normal mode or the Developer mode of the BIOS. Perhaps the Chromebook is locked (maybe this machine was used for a school or an institution)? because I cannot enter the crosh shell ([CTRL+ALT+T]. I press that on Developer mode and nothing happens, Thankful if someone could help

Well since this forum seems to be very helpful (sarcasm), I will reply to myself. I could solve by finding the proper Recovery image on external website such as archive.org, etc. This was more hard than expected because the confusion with the board name and the useless image downloaded from the Recovery tool from Google. Now all OK and hope this info helps others. Thanks anyway

I’m not sure that you want to do, but with Mrchromebox firmware almost all wireless cards internal (pci-e) or external (usb) works fine.

Now with this model in particular, i have problems with random detection of emmc drive using full efi rom, while with stock rom boot without problem.
