Hey everyone,
I’m in desperate need of help here.
I have an Asus Chromebox that originally ran ChromeOS. I had previously installed Windows 10 on it and everything worked fine, including Bluetooth. But recently, I decided to do a fresh reinstall of Windows 10 — and now Bluetooth is completely broken.
Problem:
- After reinstalling Windows 10, Bluetooth doesn’t show up at all.
- In Device Manager, it shows an “Unknown device” (likely the Bluetooth adapter).
- When I try to install a Bluetooth driver manually or via Windows Update, it throws an error like:
“The software package cannot be installed on your system.”
- I’ve tried downloading Intel Bluetooth drivers (since the CPU is i7-5500U, likely paired with Intel wireless hardware), but no luck.
- No Bluetooth toggle in Settings.
Specs:
- Asus Chromebox (originally running ChromeOS)
- Intel i7-5500U
- 16GB RAM
- Running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
What I’ve Tried:
- Windows Update (no help)
- Intel Driver Assistant (Bluetooth fails to install)
- Manual driver install from Asus and Intel websites
- Toggling Bluetooth support in BIOS (can’t find it)
- Rechecking firmware (don’t remember what firmware I flashed when I installed Windows originally)
Questions:
- Does anyone know the exact Bluetooth module used in this Chromebox?
- Is it possible I’m missing a chipset/firmware update that’s required before Bluetooth works?
- Any recommended workaround or driver package that might force it to work?
Please help! I really need Bluetooth back and I’m stuck.
