Headless HP Chromebook x360 14a-ca0090wm does not output display at all after changing firmware

System Details

  • Device: Not sure exactly, but somewhere in the Gemini Lake family.
  • OS: Currently none, but was planning to boot Windows
  • Firmware Type: UEFI Full ROM
  • Firmware Version: Not sure
  • Internal storage type: [SATA, NVMe, eMMC, UFS] (if applicable)

Summary of the Issue

I was attempting to boot Windows on this chromebook that does not have a display anymore. I was using an HDMI cable to get video and I do not currently get any. The power button is lit up, so there is power, but I don’t see anything. I am unsure what to do from here. I tried waiting. This is not a case of my monitor or cable, I tried a capture card and my actual monitor and 2 cables (One was USB-C to HDMI, the other was HDMI through a USB-C hub, both worked in ChromeOS)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Unplug display and rely on only HDMI

  2. Run through all the steps for UEFI Full Rom

  3. After powering off and turning the laptop back on, no video is outputted.

Expected Behavior

I should have been getting an output on my monitor.
