Having trouble disabling wp

I have a Lenovo 500e gen 3. I have tried aluminum foil and a paper clip

(This picture were the paperclip is inserted is for reference, I didn’t have the 2 sides of the clip touching)
Nothing was working. Sometimes bridging the 2 points like in the photo stops the device from powering on, and if it was on already it would turn off. Any tips? I’m running fedora with the legacy bios.

Points I’m supposed to bridge

I did a traditional solder bridge

But be aware, I bricked my Lenovo Chromebook with the software flashing method. The hardware wp was disabled and the software one too, so I could use a CCD cable from @ChocolateLoverRaj and it worked great

I don’t have a soldering iron. I tried finding places that do soldering but non do it. I’m not buying an iron for one centimeter solder.

then buy a CCD cable/adapter. If you flash without a way to recover, you’re going to be way worse off.

I don’t really want to spend money on this. It already had fedora on it and it’s supposed to be for school. (Not from school). But I’m also curious why it won’t power on sometimes when I put the paperclip?

Understandable.

You might be able to do this with like a hot nail and a lighter. It isnt much.

You have no places around, where you can solder? No computer repairs etc?

And yes buying a cable is good. That thing costs a few dollars, please get one.

If you are not in the US, you can contact @ChocolateLoverRaj directly afaik and get better shipping.
