Gsctool -a -o doesn't work. Chromebook Go from AT&T

I have followed all the instructions and even ordered a Suzy Q adapter to try and get this thing to turn off write protect. I am able to enable developer mode, login as root and then when I run the command “gsctool -a -o” it says “Press PP button now!” When I do so it says “Another press will be required!” then it says that several times over the next few minutes. Eventually it just reboots and disables developer mode. It never gives me the message, “PP Done!”. After that my Susy Q never shows up in /dev/ttyusb* so I can’t move forward. I’ve tried this several times.

I don’t believe there is a jumper on this system. Am I wrong?

ALMOST all devices require the use of the power button, yours may not be included. Check a website to check where you have the PP Button

I have been pressing the power button on the keyboard. It says “Another press will be required”. It does this about 6 times and then just reboots and exits developer mode.

That is what is supposed to happen. What directions are you following? When you re-enter developer mode, what does gsctool -a -I output?

Everything is still turned off. The instructions say that it will say “PP Done!” but it never says that and the following steps don’t work. It does see the Suzy Q USB device but none of the commands work.

According to the instructions, before rebooting back into normal mode (out of dev mode) it’s suppose to say “PP Done!” but it never says that. It just auto reboots and disables dev mode. If I then re-enable dev mode and move on to the next steps it doesn’t work as if CCD was never enabled.

  1. Run the following commands. This will disable hardware write protect.
  • echo "wp false" > /dev/ttyUSB0
  • echo "wp false atboot" > /dev/ttyUSB0
  1. Run echo "ccd reset factory" > /dev/ttyUSB0 to be able to unbrick using a suzyqable, if needed.
  2. Run gsctool -a -I to verify you have opened all the CCD flags. The current value for all CCD flags should be set to Y/Always.

Only some of the CCD flags say “Y/Always”

it says PP done and reboots instantly, you’re likely simply missing it.

Nope I wasn’t missing it. It wasn’t working. After digging for hours on the internet I found that this model needed a jumper between two pads. There are two pads just beneath the WiFi. Once I bridged these points with solder I was able to disable write protection easily. Can’t believe it was so hard to find someone with a pic showing the two points. Turns out I didn’t need the SusyQ adapter at all. I took a pic.

after hours of digging? Would have taken you 30s on my site
