System Details

  • OS: Arch 2026.07.01
  • Firmware Type: UEFI Full Rom

Summary of the Issue

After Updating to the newest version of the bios chromebook stopped booting past Triggering udev events, a colorful line appeared on the bottom.
Also other distros boot fine.

and its frozen on this screen

i will also include the image i took when installing:
i couldn’t upload another image so ill upload it here

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Update bios

  2. Boot into the os

Expected Behavior

Booting normally

The driver is hanging the boot process, used nomodeset flag to bypass
something must have changed between v2512 and v2606 in the graphics or smth

@MrChromebox can you help?

there are almost zero changes for StoneyRidge in this release other than the new edk2 payload

well it isnt working and only thing getting it to boot is setting nomodeset
when i do it w/o it it just freezes with the small pink stripe,
also is there any archive of images so i can flash the older coreboot version?

sigh, the release notes literally tell you to make a backup before updating to any new release, esp a big one like this

barla uses the careena iamge:

https://mrchromebox.tech/files/firmware/full_rom/coreboot_edk2-careena-mrchromebox_20260517.rom

after i flashed it, it works/boots normally

there is something wrong with the new firmware then

please ping me on Discord, would like you to test a fix for me

what’s the discord server?

Fixed in 2606.1 release
