this thread was reformatted and meant to be much briefer and streamlined
More info in the original GitHub issue thread, links below:
What Happened: eMMC/MicroSD Both will not show in BOOTMENU, UEFI SHELL, FILE EXPLORER
P.S. A eMMC → Built-in eMMC
P.S. B MicroSD → In the slot, locked
P.S. C eMMC and MicroSD both detectable in the Operating System / USB installation media
P.S. Occurs regardless of whether eMMC/MicroSD is bootable
ScreenShots: Uploading in the following [ORDER]
Main menu of the firmware, contains such infos like: firmware version/date, device name, system specs
MicroSD card in place / the slot
Boot Menu[empty]
File Explorer[empty]
UEFI SHELLshows no devices / no mapping found
[Due to policy for ner-users, currently cannot upload more than one embedded media, but luckly the post on github should be right in this order as well, staring with FW_VER section~ :D]
CBMEM DUMP
the following cbmem was dumped in a ubuntu live usb media [usb boot] hopefully it would work, links below, uses the same link as it was on github in order to keep consistency *
I’ve just intalled the latest version of the UEFI FULL ROM on an Elemi with the latest version of the firmware.
Windows still has serious issues with both the SD and eMMC . I suspect it’s an issue with the driver that Windows 11 has, Windows 10 works just fine but doesn’t see the eMMC.
I’m not sure anything can be done about this, maybe just to somehow make a Windows image with a different driver that is working.
Linux works great though, tried systemd-boot , that one didn’t but with Grub and CachyOS it’s all good.
ELEMI uses a GL9763E PCIe eMMC controller. Support for it was just added in the 2509.2 release. I only tested Linux with the loaner device I had for testing. A quick search shows that the GL975x SD card drivers exist, but I’m not seeing anything for the GL9763E eMMC controller. It simply might not exist.
I appreciate the work, I was able to nicely get Linux working.
There is some sort of a Windows driver, maybe the same as the SD card one because sometimes Windows 11 does see the emmc and the install goes to 75% but it always throes some I/O error.
