Dual boot from micro sdcard?

I have an Asus Chromebook flip C302, and I have had it setup for the past three years to dual boot chrome os and Kali Linux from micro sdcard, but lately my brother borrowed it and I put it back to stock condition before giving him the device.

Now I have it back but for some damn reason unknown to me can’t get the sdcard to show up in the boot menu! I have recovered the stock firmware image and chrome os, and then used the MrChromebox script utility, but without any luck so far.
Is it still possible to dual boot chrome os and Linux from sdcard or not?

I think @sadlerm may have written a guide on dual booting? They may be able to help you there.

Board name?

@s31bz Running a live environment off of an SD card is not dual booting.
