Do I need a SuzyQ cable/board?

I’m a little confused because there is conflicting info.
Do I need a SuzyQ cable/board for the Samsung CASTA?
On the “https://docs.mrchromebox.tech/docs/supported-devices.html” it says “CR50 (SuzyQ, battery)”
but on the “https://docs.chrultrabook.com/docs/devices.html” page it just says “CR50 (battery)”
so I’m not sure if I need the SuzyQ bit.
A similar posting, but for an Acer, suggested the battery only method should work if the machine will book up

I guessed, maybe incorrectly, that if you are happy taking the cover off, you can just use the battery method, but if you want to avoid any dismantling, you can do it with the “case closed” using the cable.
Am I right? Can I get by with just disconnecting the battery while I do the FW change?
Will the CASTA boot up with the battery disconnected?

CR50 is the write-protection mechanism, SuzyQ and battery are ways to disable WP. Not all boards which theoretically support battery disconnect can boot without the battery, in which case you need to use a SuzyQ. I don’t know about CASTA specifically.

Many thanks for the clarification MrC.
I guess there’s only one way to find out for sure.
As soon as I get the time, I’ll take the bottom off, disconnect the battery, apply power to the USB socket and try to turn it on.
