Summary of the Issue

On MrChromebox Tech’s website is see this FAQ:

I disconnected the battery to disable write-protect - when can I reconnect it?

  • You can reconnect the battery after successfully flashing the firmware and powering off the device (using the script’s power-off option).

Do not reconnect the battery while the device is powered on or during the flash process. After reconnecting, you may need to plug in external power to wake/boot the device initially” does this only apply to full ROM firmware or is it the same for rw_legacy?

There is no need to disable WP to flash RW_LEGACY.

what are you trying to do exactly?

I want to modify the GBB flags. I know write protect is nessecary to do so but I just want to ask if it is the same procedure (remove the battery, in shell disable wp then replug the battery). the most important part I want to know is can I replug the battery?

where in my instructions does it say to disable WP in the shell? Pretty sure it says NOT to do that.

boot the device with the batter disconnected, run the script, follow the prompts. Set the GBB flags, then power off, reconnect battery.
