So, I have a galaxy chromebook, and I flashed it with linux, and everything works flawlessly apart from it waking when I close the lid. On the docs it mentions it has to do with EC or something, but I was wondering if there was a way to disable the lid having any effect on the laptop entirely, so at that point I’d just use the button to turn it on/off from sleep.
The other option would be to obviously get the lid to not wake the laptop, but if that were the solution I would assume someone else would have done it already.
the issue is not opening the lid, it has to do with closing it. ideally id just completely delete the sensor, but the keyboard also turns off and stops responding when i close the lid.
It has nothing to do with closing it, it has to do with powering off the device as a whole. The lid is unrelated. If you power off the device without closing it - there is still that equal chance it will turn back on
Source: I’ve had devices with the same issue
If you really think the lid is the issue still (and have a way to unbrick), you can go build a custom rom with lid disabled (or even better, just open the Chromebook and disconnect the lid sensor) - don’t ask me how to do either of these, I haven’t cared enough to try

Tbh this sounds like an OS issue, improperly handling an event.
So yeah, it does appear your issue is a separate issue than whats mentioned in the docs. The one mentioned in the docs is where your chromebook powers off and then powers right back on, though seems this is related to sleep. (I’m a little slow sometimes, sorry, just putting this together)
I honestly wouldn’t know where to start troubleshooting it, I believe I’ve had similar issues on my chromebook, though I’ve always assumed its due to firmware that I really need to upgrade (though never got around to doing). Have you checked firmware updates recently? Otherwise, may be worth a shot to tell linux to ignore lid actions entirely (pretty simple google: “Ignore lid switch linux”)
