Constant kernel level freezing on flex i5

System Details

  • Device: TAEKO board
  • OS: Linux
  • Firmware Type: UEFI full rom
  • Firmware Version: MrChromebox-2603.1 04/09/2026
  • Internal storage type: nvme i think

Summary of the Issue

i flashed full UEFI using the utility script and that worked great as well, i then booted from ubuntu and installed it onto my disk. the very first time i booted it worked perfectly, but the next time it froze within a few minutes. i spent hours debugging this and i tried downgrading my kernel version but it was still happening. so i left it and only came back to it a few days ago. this time i booted from nixos and once again the first boot was flawless but after that it would freeze very quickly. it only seemed to happen when i was in the kernel and not when i was in coreboot or the fw interface.

i tried to change around the boot settings to have wifi off which again worked for exactly ONE boot, and then after that it would freeze as soon as hyprland began loading.

also when i put windows on, it never crashed but the mousepad never worked

Steps to Reproduce

  1. put UEFI full rom onto a lenovo flex i5

  2. use seemingly any kernel version and any linux distro

  3. get crashes

Expected Behavior

it shouldnt be freezing
